# AGPL

"Docmost is a 21k-star, AGPL-3.0 collaborative wiki and Notion alternative. This deep dive covers the open-core line it draws, what v0.96.0 actually shipped, and the one honest caveat every self-hosted knowledge base forces you to confront."

"Firefly III is a self-hosted, AGPL-3.0 personal finance manager built on double-entry bookkeeping. This deep dive covers what that actually buys you, where the rough edges are, and the one thing most reviews skip: what your financial data looks like when it never leaves your server."

Wiki.js is a 29k-star, AGPL-3.0 knowledge base built on Node.js with Git-backed storage. A 5,000-word teardown of its plugin architecture, the built-in ACME SSL automation, the AGPL network clause, the Apollo Server 2.x end-of-life running your auth, the OpenSSL-legacy build workaround, and the 2026 maintenance slowdown you must weigh before adopting.

"MinIO is a high-performance, S3-compatible object store with ~60k stars — but it is AGPL-3.0, and that licence is the part most teams underestimate. A 5,000-word teardown of what it delivers, the 2021 licence shift, the commercial-embedding trap, the source-only community distribution, and exactly where your objects go."

Tableau charges per creator, per month, forever. Metabase is a 48k-star self-hosted BI platform with unlimited users — but it ships four license files, gates SSO behind a paywall, and its default database will lose every dashboard you own.

RustDesk is the AGPL-3.0 remote desktop with 113,000+ stars that replaces TeamViewer and AnyDesk by letting you self-host the relay. Here's how it works, what the Pro tier really gates, where your screen data lands, and the AGPL trap to know before you embed it.
